San Andres is a tiny island a little far from Colombia’s mainland but is still part of the country’s territory. Not a lot of people know about this paradisiac getaway, but I could not help to include it in my top 5 list of must-go cities in Colombia.
And the reason why I love it so much is exactly because it is not so crowded and it is one of my favorite beaches ever! The sea is unbelievable. It is known as el mar de los 7 colores, which means “sea of 7 colors,” and that could not be more true!
Crystal clear water, spectacular scenery, and amazing restaurants and food make San Andres Island a perfect place to relax and enjoy the best in life.
Check out below what to see and do on the island!
Tour of the island

Since San Andres is such a small island, you can visit the entire place in one day. Yes, that’s right! What you have to do is rent a buggy, with or without a guide and go!
I particularly recommend getting a guide because they know the island and they’ll show you not only the best places but also the best local food and cheapest alternatives.
The entire tour is spectacular, every corner of the San Andres is breathtakingly stunning!
West view

During your tour of the island, you have to make a stop at the West View. It is a spot where you’ll find a waterslide and a trampoline to jump right into the perfect Caribbean sea.
Johnny Cay + Acuario

Johnny Cay is an island of San Andres island. To get there you’ll need boat transportation from the port. It is a must-go attraction and it can also include a visit to the Acuario, which is another tiny island with natural pools filled with beautiful corals and fishes.
I recommend getting a tour of both! Johnny Cay is one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen, and the Acuario is an amazing experience!
